Here A Strike, There A Strike

strikes loom for teachers unionsHere a strike, there a strike, everywhere a strike.

Even though various unions threw millions of dollars into helping Wynne and her Liberals get elected, clearly it wasn’t enough for labour peace.

Durham announced Saturday night that their Secondary Teachers will not be hitting the classrooms on Monday.  High School kids in the region, will not have classes to go to.

What seemed to slip under the radar, was on April 17th, whilst Wynne was announcing her intent to sell off Hydro and allow beer sales in grocery stores, – the talks between Elementary Teachers Union also broke off.

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, which applied for conciliation in late March, asked for a “no board report” Monday, signalling that talks with the province are at an impasse. The union would be in a legal strike position 17 days after the report is issued.

Both Unions are poised to do battle with the Government, and Liz Sandals claims this is the standard tactic of big powerful unions, and that they would EVENTUALLY return to the table.

Yeah and a province of Grade 12 students will EVENTUALLY graduate too, no thanks to this mess.  This is playing with kids’ lives and their future education prospects.

Are you angry yet?
